Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas MP joins Parliamentary Secretary Ranks

Hamilton's influence at higher levels of government has reached an all-time low in the past few years. Since 2006, Hamilton has not had a representative appointed to the Federal Cabinet, and last year, Hamilton's sole member of the Provincial Cabinet left cabinet.

MPP Ted McMeekin was named Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, which is as close to cabinet as one can be without being in cabinet.

Last week, Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas MP Filomena Tassi was named Deputy Government Whip - a powerful position within the backbenches of the government, and a proving ground for her to seek cabinet in the future.
