"You're wearing a red hat at City Hall!", a City Hall staffer declared to me in jest last week.
I was wearing a Christmas Santa hat.
This only weeks after I spoke up when a member of the Committee of Adjustment worn a Trump "Make America Great Again" hat into a quasi-judicial hearing and displayed the hat during hearings that day.
The staffer is one of many good people who work at City Hall, and risk retaliation by speaking to me as a human being.
Here's the thing, City Hall's corporate culture is toxic, it's a very tense building - humour is one of the key methods of coping, and this laugh really helped lighten my day last week.
