A good question from Bob Berberick on Twitter:

@JoeyColeman We went to a meeting at Central Memorial Rec. centre where they had detailed drawings. What is the $200k difference. #confused

I quickly responded:

@BobBerberick design is measuring, surveying, and creating construction plans.

A little bit more on this.

The design drawing presented to the public at the open house were conceptual, think of it like a rough draft. All the key concepts for the final are there, but the exact structure isn't complete.

Work needs to be done to confirm feasibility of the design, surveying of the sites, and creating final construction plans.

For a project of $2.3-million, with a topography such as the escarpment, $200,000 is the estimate of reasonable cost from City staff.
