The Hamilton Port Authority's Land Use Plan open houses start tonight with the first of two public open houses.

Tonight's (Nov 24) open house starts at 6:30pm at the Arts & Science Brewery at 207 Burlington Street East (near Wellington Street North). The Open House runs until 8:30pm.

There is a presentation at 6:40pm.

Next Thursday (Dec 1), the second open house will be at the Stadium formerly named Ivor Wynne - 64 Melrose Avenue North at Cannon. This open house will run from 6:30 to 8:30pm with a presentation at 6:40pm.

The Port Authority's current Land Use Plan was created in 2002, and the HPA is looking to update it.

The HPA notes they've acquired the former Stelco lands at Pier 22, the Randle Reef project will create a new facility, and security requirements are more stringent than they were 15 years ago.

While the HPA doesn't say it - because they can't - this Land Use Plan does provide the public an opportunity to voice our visions for the current US Steel lands which are significantly under-utilized.

Can't attend an open house?

HPA is inviting comment via an online survey.
